Joining as part of business support

PA has a reputation as an excellent provider of clinical services but none of this would be possible without our amazing business support team within the practice.

Our Referral Team are crucial to our work and the staff skilfully offer advice, take referrals and requests and place work with our employed and associate clinicians. PA’s service development staff are continuously promoting services and training events by reaching out across many different platforms. The Finance team work hard to develop good relationships with all of our customers and staff whilst organising all invoicing and payments. The Reception staff are the welcoming face of PA when clients and clinicians arrive at our offices and offer everyone reassurance and seamless support. Our HR team manage our ongoing recruitment processes admirably. Whilst the management team keeps every cog moving smoothly.

Assistant Psychologist & Administration Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Psychologist & Administration Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Psychology Associates. This role offers valuable hands-on experience within psychological services, working closely with clinicians across adult, child and family pathways.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity to develop your career in mental health and psychological practice? Psychology Associates are seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team in a combined Assistant Psychologist and Administration Assistant role.

This is a varied post combining clinical support and administrative responsibilities. Duties will include assisting with psychological and psychometric assessments (including scoring measures), liaising with clients and professionals, welcoming clients to appointments, and providing high-quality administrative support to ensure the smooth delivery of services.

The role is based at our Exeter office, with fortnightly travel to our Saltash office required for clinical meetings and supervision.

What We Are Looking For

Someone who can bring enthusiasm, professionalism and flexibility to an exciting opportunity within psychological services. The successful candidate will hold a BPS-accredited Psychology degree, have excellent organisational and communication skills, be highly motivated, and able to manage a varied workload effectively.

Previous experience in a client-facing and/or administrative role is desirable, but not essential. We are committed to improving diversity and welcome applications from all backgrounds.

Undergraduate Psychology Placement Opportunity

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an Undergraduate Psychology student to join our multidisciplinary team at Psychology Associates for a supervised placement year from September 2026 to July 2027. This role provides valuable hands-on experience across child and adult psychological services, working closely with experienced clinicians.


Training and Development

Psychology Associates has a strong commitment to training, learning and supervision. The placement year will provide a rich developmental experience, including:

– Exposure to both child and adult psychology services
– Opportunities to observe clinical work through shadowing
– Experience supporting psychological and psychometric assessments
– Involvement in supervision and multidisciplinary discussions
– Developing theory–practice links within a clinical setting


The Role

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate psychology student seeking a meaningful placement year within psychological services?

This is a varied placement combining clinical support and administrative responsibilities. You will support clinicians with tasks such as scoring psychometric measures, assisting with formulations and treatment planning, supporting casework, and contributing to the smooth running of the service through clinical administration.

Placements are available across our Exeter (Devon) and Saltash (Cornwall) practices, with opportunities to work across both settings.


What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a highly motivated student with excellent organisational and communication skills, who is able to work independently as well as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. You should be reliable, professional and keen to learn within a clinical environment.

This role is ideal for students considering future training in clinical, counselling or educational psychology.
