Dr Maggie Allison
Maggie is a HCPC registered BPS Chartered Counselling Psychologist who has worked both in the NHS and in private practice with a range of services including therapy provision and expert witness work. Maggie specialises in psychological trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, veterans of combat, challenging behaviours, physical health psychology, rehabilitation, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, cardiac rehabilitation, pain management, specialist psychodynamic psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She has experience of working with adults and adolescents in relation to anxiety, school phobia, bereavement, divorce, family systems difficulties and relationship difficulties. Maggie has also conducted research into younger men’s experience of cardiac illness, and seafarers’ coping behaviours in relation to stress and illness. In the past Maggie has been a senior lecturer at Teesside University, teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students, as well as being on the programme team for the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
