Couples Therapy Services
Couples therapy at Psychology Associates is provided by Clinical and Counselling Psychologists who have expertise and experience of working with couples.
All relationships go through difficult times. It is the learning to cope with these difficulties that is a challenge and can make the difference between a couple staying together or separating. A therapist can help couples to talk to each other about the difficulties and begin to understand how each person perceives the relationship and how their behaviour affects the other.
Psychology Associates can help couples experiencing difficulties in any of the following areas:
- One of you is feeling insecure or constantly jealous and/or upset when separated
- You are experiencing problems with your sex lives
- You are struggling to adjust to a change in your lives or circumstances for example to your health or your work through redundancy or a life-span transition such as becoming parents or retirement
- One of you is experiencing some psychological symptoms such as anxiety or depression that the other is struggling to understand
- The relationship has lost its fun and enjoyment and you are arguing, being moody or feeling lonely
- Your relationship is struggling to manage the demands faced by a reconstituted family
- You are experiencing psychological stress
Couples therapy is available to:
- Anyone wanting to arrange couples therapy on a private basis
- Anyone referred for couples therapy by their GP, funded privately or through private health insurance
- Local Authorities wanting to provide couples therapy to help parents improve their relationship
Sometimes during an initial assessment appointment your therapist may decide that family therapy or individual therapy would be a more suitable therapeutic option. For therapists’ profiles please click here.
To arrange an initial appointment contact the Clinical Administration Team, who would be able to advise as to which therapists have availability and the specific expertise to meet your needs.
