Dr Kelly Camilleri
Dr Kelly Camilleri provides staff training and consultation to a wide variety of care services. She has worked within the NHS for 20 years in both community and in-patient services. Kelly specializes in working with people who have learning difficulties. She provides individual and group therapy, and specialist assessment and intervention around mental health, behavioural, and forensic issues. She provides supervision to psychologists and other professionals. Kelly has a special interest in the provision of clinical training and has worked on the Exeter Doctoral Training Programme for 5 years. She continues to teach and supervise doctoral research.
Dr Alex Clark
Dr Alex Clark is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in learning difficulties (children and adults), with an interest in neuropsychological approaches. Alex provides neuropsychological, capacity and parenting assessments as well as neuropsychological intervention. Alex has conducted research into familial responses to traumatic brain injury in children. Alex currently works with adults with learning disabilities and has worked within the NHS and for Psychology Associates since 2005.
Dr Madeleine Dunham
Madeleine Dunham has 25 years experience in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families in the NHS and is now in full time independent practice. She provides reports for the Courts in public and private childcare disputes and personal injury, specialising in assessment of parents attributes and parenting abilities, children’s needs, attachment issues, domestic abuse, substance misuse, learning difficulties and mental health issues. She has been providing reports to the Courts for over 20 years and has given evidence in Court on numerous occasions. She also maintains a family therapeutic practice and works with collaborative lawyers in relation to divorce and contact.
Dr Kay Hughes
Ms Kay Hughes provides intellectual and parenting assessments specialising in cases involving adults or children with learning disabilities and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions. She has worked with Psychology Associates since 2005, combining this with her long-term work with adults with learning disabilities within the NHS.
Dr Lesley Leeds
Dr Lesley Leeds is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked in the NHS for 6 years. She has extensive experience in the assessment of learning disability, with particular knowledge of Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and the assessment of intellectual impairment. Lesley has extensive experience of providing a range of psychological interventions to people with and without learning disability. Lesley also has experience of undertaking medico-legal work, specifically providing psychological interventions to individuals with anxiety and depression. Lesley works in a community learning disability team in North Wales. She has a specific interest in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and is part of a consultation team in North Wales.
Dr Judith McBrien
Dr Judith McBrien provides assessments of adults with learning disabilities and borderline functioning, including parenting assessments, risk assessments, capacity and fitness to plead. She has worked in the NHS for the past 28 years and has conducted medico-legal assessments in care proceedings and the criminal Courts since 1996 (with Psychology Associates since 2004). She has extensive publications in the field of learning disabilities and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Plymouth.
Dr Kathy McKay
Dr Kathy McKay has worked in Psychology Services within the NHS since 1992. Alongside this she has worked through Psychology Associates since 2007. Her area of particular expertise is Learning Disabilities. She conducts assessments of capacity, both in terms of parenting related issues and understanding of legal processes. Due to her further expertise in forensic issues with this client group she also provides regular input into a residential unit for people with Learning Disabilities who have been in more secure accommodation.
Mrs Jill Moorhouse
Mrs Jill Moorhouse has practised at Psychology Associates since 1996 offering therapy for trauma related disorders. Jill has experience of practising in the National Health Service in the Adult Mental Health and Learning Disability specialties. In the course of this work she developed an interest, and received extra training, in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. This interest extends to the treatment and assessment of Trauma Related Disorders.
Dr Jennifer Murray-Milkins
Dr Jennifer Murray worked for several years prior to clinical training with young people with learning disabilities in transition to adult services, in forensic secure services (mental health medium secure service and maximum security personality disorder service) and as a research psychologist. She qualified as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Bristol doctoral training course in 2009 and has since been working in a Tier 2 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. Within her NHS role, Jenny provides specialist clinical assessment and intervention for the emotional and mental health needs of children and young people, including children with learning disabilities. She works individually with children and young people, as well as with families, carers, schools and other relevant professionals and agencies. Jenny has a special interest in learning and developmental difficulties and is involved in the assessment of these.
Dr Kathryn Newns
Dr Kathryn Newns has provided expert witness services since 2008. She has previously worked in the NHS providing assessments, therapy to individuals and groups, and research in specialist Eating Disorders and Learning Disabilities settings. She has lectured students on the Doctoral courses in Clinical Psychology at the University of Plymouth (Autism) and at the University of Hertfordshire (Approaches to Consultation). She has specialist interests in Autism Spectrum Conditions, and in training and working with teams, particularly in the areas of working with clients with learning disabilities and conflict resolution/mediation. Dr Newns has a developing interest in attachment and parenting, in particular with parents who have a learning disability. Dr Newns works in the East Anglia region.
Dr Neil Phillips
Dr Neil Phillips is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience of working with children, adults and parents with learning disabilities and additional complex needs. This work has taken place in a range of community, residential and in-patient settings in both the NHS and independent sector. He provides specialist assessment and intervention in areas such as mental health and behaviour, cognitive/developmental issues, parenting and family functioning, as well offering staff training and organisational consultation. Neil has lectured on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Training Programme at the University of Birmingham and has a number of publications in the field of learning disabilities.
Dr Emma Pillinger
Dr Emma Pillinger is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with 10 years experience of working in both public and private sectors, in community, residential and in-patient services. In addition to providing therapeutic intervention to individuals and groups, she offers specialist assessment, formulation and intervention for mental health, behavioural, organic and forensic issues (including specialist risk assessment). Emma also provides consultation to staff teams and organisations, and supervision to other psychologists and professionals. Emma specialises in working with older people and people who have a learning disability, and has a special interest in the areas of organisational dynamics, risk assessment, bereavement, suicide, and the psychological implications of old age and learning disability.
Emma also works part time with the University of Exeter as Clinical Tutor on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Training Programme
Dr Tim Salzman
Dr Tim Salzman provides psychological assessment and therapeutic work in the areas of adult mental health and learning disability. He undertakes assessment of psychological state, cognitive functioning, attachment style and parenting capacity. Tim undertakes regular expert witness assessments and prepares Court reports. Tim has an expertise in working with psychological trauma and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). He has a specialist interest in Asperger’s Syndrome. Tim has worked independently for Psychology Associates for the last 2 years. Previously he has worked in adult mental health and learning disability services within the NHS.
Mrs Arabella Whitehead
Mrs Arabella Whitehead provides developmental and psychological assessments of children (0-18), full psychological assessment of adults, predominantly parents, including learning disability, autism, assessments of parenting and attachment, mental health and associated difficulties such as drug and alcohol problems, therapeutic work and consultation to children and adult/family services; additionally, she will undertake personal injury assessments. Expert witness assessments and reports for Court are also provided. Arabella's clinical experience spans 23 years of working in the NHS and she has been working with Psychology Associates since 2007.
Dr Sarah Whitwham
Dr Sarah Whitwham is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. She has a specialist interest in Clinical Neuropsychology and has completed post-doctoral training in Applied Clinical Neuropsychology at the Institute of Psychiatry in London. She has a particular interest in neurodegenerative conditions such as the dementias. She offers assessment and therapeutic interventions to adults and older adults who may have a developmental disability, head injury, congenital or acquired brain injury, or neurodegenerative disorder. She also offers therapeutic interventions and has a special interest in solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Her research interests are primarily focused on epilepsy, ageing issues and intellectual disability. Sarah is also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Plymouth and regularly offers clinical and research supervision and formal teaching to the Doctoral programme.
