Joining the Practice
Interested in Joining the Practice?
We are interested in hearing from any psychologists who would like to hear more from us about working as an Associate. We currently have over 60 Registered Psychologists working with us and more every week making enquiries.
Associates are self-employed but we aim to offer a high level of support to you, particularly in the early days of joining us. We offer case specific supervision – as required, CPD evenings and events, training in court skills and report writing and mentoring arrangements.
If you did want to join us we would take you through various processes and checks. You would need to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC), you would need your own Professional Indemnity Insurance and clinical supervision arrangements. You would need to have a CRB check and from June 2010 sign up for the vetting and barring process.
Please contact us if you are interested in talking to one of the Clinical Directors about becoming an Associate.
The Application Process
The application process for new associates is broken down into 3 main phases:
Phase 1
Associate enquiry sheet is filled out and returned to our offices along with a copy of CV and 2 professional referees.
- Please contact enquiry@psychologyassociates.org.uk to request an enquiry sheet from our friendly administration team.
- Referees will be contacted and CVs will be reviewed by the relevant Clinical Lead for your specialism. The Clinical Lead may then contact you for an informal chat to determine why you want to work in private practice, to have a general discussion about the practice and for you to discover from one of our psychologists what it is like to work with us.
Phase 2
If we receive 2 professional references and you conform to our selection criteria we will contact you to take your application further. If your application is not successful you will be notified in writing.
- A letter will be sent to the prospective Associate requesting copies of relevant documentation, for example HPC certificate and insurance certificate. We will also enclose a copy of our Associate contract to be signed and returned.
Phase 3
Once you have signed a contract with us and are ready to begin working, the Clinical Administration team will contact you to discuss the type of work that you would like to begin taking on, as well as practical arrangements such as timescales and keeping in contact.
- At this point we will provide you with a CRB check to be filled out and returned.
- Our finance department will send you the relevant paperwork, explain how to fill in timesheets or create invoices, and to request your bank details for payment purposes.
