Psychology Associates has a strong tradition in providing high quality expert witness reports for the Courts in child and family, criminal and/or civil proceedings with extensive experience of cross examination across Court settings.

• The practice offers a central point of contact for solicitors or other referrers seeking to instruct an expert in the field of Clinical and/or Forensic psychology.
• The assessments and reports are evidence based, comprehensive and thorough.
• All experts are fully compliant with the relevant protocols and rules, applicable to specific proceedings.

All experts meet the British Psychological Society criteria for professional status as Clinical, Counselling and/or Forensic Psychologists and are registered with the Health Professionals Council.

Psychology Associates checks experts’ registration and qualifications and ensures they have the appropriate expertise. Associates complete enhanced CRB checks and will ensure registration with the Vetting and Barring Scheme with effect from July 2010.

The Clinical Administration Team with support from the Clinical Directors carefully select appropriate experts for referrals.

All Associates complete court skills training and are provided with support to ensure reports and attendance at Court are of a high quality, regardless of the Associate’s experience in medico-legal reporting.

Psychology Associates has appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance and ensures all self-employed Associates have lodged proof of adequate Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Psychology Associates ensures all Associates have appropriate arrangements for supervision in private practice.

Psychology Associates offers regular CPD opportunities to Associates and ensures they remain up to date with relevant information in respect to their areas of expertise and the legal process.

In cases where more than one expert is required Psychology Associates will take steps to link appropriate experts on behalf of referrers. At all times experts maintain clinical independence.

The Clinical Administration Team is routinely supported by the Clinical Directors and other Associates employed by the practice and consequently are able to offer advice and consultation to any referrer about the most appropriate and available psychological assessments to meet the parties’ and Court’s requirements.

If a referrer requests a specific expert, attempts will be made to place the work with the named Associate. If timescales are prohibitive Psychology Associates will seek to offer alternative experts.
